Doorways: a Prayer to Janus

As Time bends to Your will
Giving You sight to see that was and what will be,
You open the doors of Your great hall.

Janus You Who Sees
Janus, Janus, Janus

You look back from Certainty
All that is fixed in time as if in stone
And learn the lessons.
You sing a low note full of weight and meaning.

Janus You Who Sees
Janus, Janus, Janus

You look forward to Possibility
All that is not yet done, fluid and full
And wonder.
You sing a high note full of promise and portent.

Janus You Who Sees
Janus, Janus, Janus

You stand as we stand
In the middle of the two doorways,
Your twin voices create.
The Melody of Now.
