The name Wild Onion Grove comes from the meaning of Chicago which originally was shikaakwa from the Miami-Illinois language (and then later turned into Checagou by Robert La Salle) which means wild onion, specifically the ramps (Allium tricoccum) that grew in the swamps around Lake Michigan that later became the city of Chicago.

The Grove was founded in 1995, more to follow as soon as I get the “elders” to help me round this out.
